Parkinson's Law

Parkinson's Law states that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. Coined by naval historian Cyril Northcote Parkinson in 1955, it explains why tasks that could take hours consume days when given a week, why bureaucracies grow regardless of workload, and why deadlines β€” even artificial ones β€” dramatically improve productivity. It is one of the most practically useful insights in time management and organizational design.
