Provocation Technique (Po)
The Provocation Technique, introduced by Edward de Bono using the notation "Po," is a lateral thinking method that deliberately makes an absurd or impossible statement about a problem domain, then uses that statement as a stepping stone to generate creative solutions. Unlike conventional logic, which moves from valid premise to valid conclusion, Po creates a "provocation" β a statement that is intentionally unreasonable β specifically to force thinking out of established patterns. The absurdity of the provocation is its strength, not a weakness.
