Lateral Thinking
Lateral thinking, coined by Edward de Bono in 1967, is the deliberate use of non-sequential, indirect approaches to problem-solving — moving sideways through problem space to find solutions that vertical (logical, sequential) thinking cannot reach. It includes techniques for disrupting habitual thinking patterns, generating unexpected options, and finding novel angles of attack on problems that have resisted direct solutions.
