Pricing

The app is free. AI is what you pay for.

The app is free. Reading, writing, search and your own folder cost nothing. You pay only for AI work — through a subscription, or with your own API key. Plans are measured in credits, refilled every week.

  • Reading, writing, highlighting and searching your files never spend credits.
  • Credits are spent only when the AI does work for you, such as an annotation pass.
  • With your own API key, no credits are involved at all.

01Choosing

Which one am I?

Four common paths. Pick the sentence that sounds like you.
  1. You mostly read and take notes

    Free

Reading, highlighting, search and your own files never cost credits.

  2. You read and write every week

    Starter

A real weekly allowance, a first taste of the Deep models, and web search from inside your notes.

  3. You work through many sources and write from them

    Pro

Full Deep models and enough allowance for long documents and long jobs.

  4. A book, a thesis, a months-long project

    Max

Book-scale work running all week without watching the meter.

02Models

One subscription, not one model

The tiers are model tiers, not brands. Behind them sit several families — GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, MiMo, ... — and MindMax picks a tier to suit the job. You can override per task. Fast, Standard and Vision come with every plan; Deep starts on Starter, in a limited amount, and is fully included from Pro. Paying four providers separately to find out which model fits is the thing this replaces.
Behind the tiers
  • GPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • DeepSeek
  • MiMo
  • ...

Fast

Quick work — asking about a document you have open, tidying a paragraph, everyday editing.

Standard

The default for real work: reading passes, drafting, translation.

Deep

The strongest reasoning models, for the passes where being right matters more than being quick.

Vision

Reading what is on the page rather than in the text — charts, diagrams, scans.

03Your own key

Have your own API key? MindMax runs on it.

Every AI feature works on your own API key — the same tiers, the same tools, no account and no weekly cap. Point each kind of work at whichever model you want, including one running on your own machine. The subscription is there to save you the setup and the separate bills, not to unlock the app.

15 providers come pre-filled — major international and Chinese ones, aggregators, and Ollama and LM Studio for a model on your own machine. Any other OpenAI-compatible endpoint works by pasting its address. You manage the keys; each provider bills you directly.

An API key is billed separately from a chat subscription — a ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro plan doesn't come with one. If a chat subscription is all you have, credits are the simpler way in.

You are paying for compute, not for your files

You pay for AI compute, not for your files. Everything MindMax produces lives in your own folder and stays readable if you stop paying.

04Support

Not using our AI? You can still chip in.

If you run MindMax on your own key, or mostly read and write without AI, we never see a cent from you — and that is fine. If the app has earned a place in your work, a one-time Supporter payment is how to say so. It needs no account and unlocks nothing; everything is already yours.

No account or sign-in needed — pay once through Stripe, in US dollars. Sign in to the app later with the same email and Settings shows your support.

05Questions

Questions people actually ask

More in the FAQ.

What happens when I run out of credits for the week?

AI work pauses until the week rolls over, or you move up a tier. Nothing is charged automatically, and nothing you already made is taken away.

Can I change tier later?

Yes. Every plan includes the Fast, Standard and Vision models. Deep models start on Starter, in a limited amount, and are fully included from Pro. Beyond that, tiers change how much AI work you can do per week and how many devices you can sign in on — never which of your files you can open.

What happens to my documents if I stop paying?

They stay where they were: in your folder, as ordinary files any editor can open. You pay for AI compute, not for access to your own work.

Is the app itself free, or is this a trial?

The app is free, with no countdown. Reading, writing, annotating and searching your own files never cost anything. AI work is the only thing you pay for: the free plan includes a small weekly allowance that resets every week, paid plans add more, or you use your own API key.

I already pay for an API. Do I have to buy this too?

No. Add your own key and every feature works the same way — no weekly allowance, no account. Credits and keys are two ways of paying for the same compute — switch between them at any time, or mix them tier by tier, your own key for some work and the subscription for the rest.

I pay for ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. Can MindMax use that?

Not directly — those plans cover the chat app, not API access, which the providers bill separately. You can add API credit with the provider and use that key, or use a MindMax plan.

I use my own key. Can I still support MindMax?

Yes — with a one-time Supporter payment, from this page or from Settings in the app. It needs no account and unlocks nothing: every feature is already yours. Sign in to the app later with the email you paid with, and Settings shows your support.
