Business model canvas generator
Nine blocks, one business — and the assumption it hangs on
The business model canvas lays a business out in nine blocks, from who the customers are to how the money flows. The canvas fills in every block for your idea and the hub card names the one assumption the whole model depends on.

When to use the business model canvas
Testing a new idea, explaining an existing business on one page, or comparing two ways to make money from the same product.
- Start from the customer and end with the money: segments and value first, revenue and costs last.
- The blocks interlock — a key resource that no value proposition needs is a cost, not an asset.
- The useful output is not nine full boxes but the riskiest assumption, so you know what to test first.
How the canvas builds it
Type the problem
One sentence is enough — the question you would bring to a whiteboard.
Pick “Business model canvas”
The framework decides how the problem is cut: which cards appear and what each one must answer.
Read the map
One card per branch, plus a hub card that says what the branches add up to.
Go deeper where it matters
Expand any item: break it down again, ask a follow-up, or apply another framework to that branch.
Where it gets hard
- Two runs with no account, then a free account
Type your problem and the canvas builds it right in your browser. Two runs need no account; after that, sign in with a free account and runs use the AI allowance in your plan. Canvases stay in this browser — export them, or share a read-only link, to keep them elsewhere.
- A draft to argue with
Every block is a hypothesis until a customer confirms it. Treat the canvas as the list of things to test, not as a plan.
- In the desktop app today
Add the Business model canvas skill from the skill library and the desktop canvas fills in all nine blocks, from a topic or from a document you drop in.
Common questions
What are the nine blocks?
Customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partners and cost structure.
Business model canvas or lean canvas?
The lean canvas swaps some blocks for problem, solution and metrics to suit early startups. The business model canvas is better for explaining or redesigning a business that already runs.
Is it free?
Yes. Two runs online need no account; after that a free account is enough, and runs use the Free plan’s weekly AI allowance. Exploring the examples is always free, and the AI canvas in the desktop app works on the Free plan too.
