Write a thesis or a book without chapter nine contradicting chapter two

A long document that still argues one thing at the end — with sources you can trace, a contents page generated from its own structure, and a record of every change you accepted along the way.

You start with
A folder of your reading — papers, books, notes — and a document you have to produce from it. A rough sense of the argument, no structure you trust yet.
Time
Weeks, in sessions you control.
Your part
The outline, the judging, the final read. Less time remembering what chapter four committed to.

What you'll end up with

  • One long document that argues one thing, chapter after chapter.
  • Quotes that link back, so a claim in chapter six traces to its paper months later.
  • Every change you accepted, reviewed as tracked changes rather than regenerated.
  • Markdown in your folder, exportable to Word with numbered citations.

How to write a thesis or a book with AI, step by step

It is deliberately not one-click. You approve the outline before anything is drafted — a hundred pages from a prompt you never checked is a hundred pages you must read before using any of it.

  1. Point it at your sources.

    You

The documents in your folder are what the draft is written from — with quotes that link back, so a claim in chapter six can be traced to its paper months later.

  2. Say what you are writing and for whom.

    You

Length, audience and purpose decide the shape. A short piece stays one flat document; a thesis or book gets parts, chapters and sections.

  3. Argue with the outline.

    You ask · MindMax answers

It comes to you before a word is drafted. Comment on the wrong sections and send it back — it replans against your comments instead of regenerating. Expect two or three rounds: the cheapest place in the project to change your mind.

  4. Draft one chapter and judge it.

    You

Do not commission the whole book on faith. Read one chapter properly and decide whether the voice and depth are usable. Adjust the outline if not.

  5. Let the rest draft.

    MindMax

Chapters are written against the outline and against a ledger of what earlier chapters already claimed — the mechanism that stops the drift. Chapters that can be written in parallel are.

  6. Review changes, do not accept walls of text.

    You

Revisions arrive as tracked changes, grouped, each with a one-line reason. Accept and reject group by group, like a colleague's markup. Anything you reject stays rejected.

  7. Read it once yourself, then export.

    You

No tool removes the final read; it removes re-reading chapter two to check chapter nine. Export to Word or PDF with the on-screen typography and equations; each citation becomes a numbered source keeping the quoted passage, so an examiner can check it.

Why it works here

An outline gate before any prose

Structure is planned for the length and approved by you; comments replan the outline instead of regenerating it.

Book-length writing →

A ledger of what you already argued

Each chapter is drafted against what earlier chapters committed to, so chapter nine does not quietly contradict chapter two.

How the argument ledger works →

Claims that stay traceable

Quotes link back to the source page while you write and survive into Word as numbered citations with the passage.

Checked quotes →

Where it gets hard

  • The outline gate will annoy you if you wanted magic.

That annoyance is the feature. Skip the thinking here and you pay for it across a hundred pages.

  • Voice is the weak point.

Structure, coverage and consistency hold up. "Make it sound like me" does not, and rewriting a paragraph yourself is faster than arguing about it.

  • It cannot judge whether the idea is any good.

Nothing here tells you the thesis is worth defending. That part is still entirely yours.

  • Book-length runs cost accordingly.

Draft one chapter first, and check pricing before committing the whole thing.

  • Your supervisor's opinion is not in the ledger.

Feed comments back in as outline changes rather than patching chapters in isolation, or you reintroduce exactly the drift this avoids.
