Markdown to PDF in five steps
Open the web editor
Go to mindmax.me/write. No install, no account.
Bring the Markdown in
Paste it — an AI answer works the same way — or open a .md file from your computer with the open-file button in the document list.
Read it as the page
The editor lays the document out with the same typography the PDF uses, so this is your proof copy.
Click Export PDF
The browser’s print dialog opens with the document ready on A4 pages.
Save as PDF
Pick Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the destination, and save.
Laid out as a document, not as a web page
Printing rendered Markdown straight from a browser tab gives you the website: navigation, sidebars, odd page breaks. The PDF here is built from a print layout of its own.
- Document typography — body size, heading scale, margins — from the same rules as the Word export, so the PDF and the .docx match.
- Equations are typeset as text, so they stay sharp at any zoom and can be selected and searched.
- Images and diagrams are scaled to fit the page, and code keeps its highlighting.
Pick the output by who reads it
For people who only read it: submitting, archiving, sending to many people at once.
Word
For whoever edits it next. Export Word is next to Export PDF.
Rich text
Copy as rich text to paste the formatted document into an email or a shared doc.
Where it gets hard
- The print dialog has the last word
The PDF is made through your browser’s print dialog. Turn off the browser’s own “Headers and footers” option there if it adds the date and a web address to each page.
- A4 pages
Pages are A4 with the document margins. For Letter or other sizes, export Word and print from there.
- Images on your disk are not read from a link
An image referenced by a path, like , points at a file the browser cannot open by itself. Paste or drag the image into the document instead.
- The document lives in this browser
What you paste is kept in this browser’s storage. Clearing site data or switching browsers means it is not there.
Common questions
How do I convert Markdown to PDF for free?
Open mindmax.me/write, paste the Markdown or open the .md file, click Export PDF, and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. No account, no watermark.
Does it render LaTeX maths in the PDF?
Yes. Equations between $ and $, $$ and $$, or \( \) and \[ \] are typeset, and they stay text in the PDF rather than becoming images.
Can I turn a ChatGPT answer into a PDF?
Yes. Copy the answer with ChatGPT’s copy button, paste it into the editor, and export the PDF.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The PDF is made by your own browser, from a document kept in your browser’s storage.
Why does my PDF show a date and a web address at the top?
That is the browser’s print header. Untick “Headers and footers” in the print dialog’s settings before saving.
