Mermaid to Word
A diagram written as text, delivered as a picture in Word
Paste Mermaid code — on its own or inside an AI answer — see it drawn, and export a .docx or PDF with the diagram embedded. No screenshot, no separate drawing tool.

Arrives in Word and PDF as a picture
From Mermaid code to a Word file in five steps
Open the web editor
Go to mindmax.me/write. No install, no account.
Paste the diagram
Paste the Mermaid code inside a ```mermaid code block — or paste the whole answer or document it came in. The diagram is drawn in place.
Edit the code, watch the drawing
Change a label or an arrow in the code and the drawing follows. A typo shows as an error before it can reach the export.
Write around it
Add the explanation, the heading, the table that goes with it — it is an ordinary document.
Export Word
Click Export Word at the top right. Each diagram lands in the .docx as a picture; Export PDF does the same for a PDF.
AI assistants draw in Mermaid. Word does not read it.
Ask ChatGPT, Claude or DeepSeek for a flowchart and you usually get a block of Mermaid code. In the chat it may be drawn; pasted into Word it is a block of text with arrows made of dashes.
- Paste the whole answer: the prose, the tables and the diagram arrive together, and the diagram is drawn where it sits.
- The diagram goes into the Word file as a picture at the place it appears in the document, sized to the page.
- The Mermaid code stays in your document, so changing the diagram later means editing a line of text and exporting again.
### 2. Least squares
The estimate is **unbiased** when \( E[\varepsilon] = 0 \):
\[ \hat{\beta} = (X^\top X)^{-1} X^\top y \]
| Model | R² |
|-------|-----|
| OLS | 0.82 |2. Least squares
The estimate is unbiased when E[ε] = 0:
β̂ = (X⊤X)−1X⊤y
| Model | R² |
|---|---|
| OLS | 0.82 |
Where the diagram ends up
Word
Embedded as a picture in the .docx, in its place in the text.
Drawn on the page in the PDF export.
Markdown
Download Markdown keeps the diagram as Mermaid code, for the next tool that reads it.
Where it gets hard
- In Word it is a picture, not a diagram
The boxes and arrows cannot be edited in Word. To change the diagram, edit the Mermaid code here and export again.
- The drawing is ours, not mermaid.live’s
Diagrams are laid out by MindMax’s own Mermaid renderer. The content is the same, but spacing and placement can differ from what the Mermaid live editor or another tool draws.
- Code that will not draw is shown as an error
A syntax mistake, or a diagram type the renderer does not support, appears as an error in the editor instead of a picture — so you see it before you export.
- The document lives in this browser
Nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data or switching browsers means it is not there — export what you want to keep.
Common questions
How do I insert a Mermaid diagram into Word?
Open mindmax.me/write, paste the Mermaid code inside a ```mermaid code block, and click Export Word. The diagram is embedded in the .docx as a picture.
Can I edit the diagram in Word afterwards?
Not as a diagram — it is a picture there. Edit the Mermaid code in the editor and export again; the code stays in the document for exactly that.
Does it work with a diagram ChatGPT gave me?
Yes. Copy the whole answer with the copy button and paste it in. The Mermaid block is drawn along with the rest of the answer.
Is it free?
Yes. No account and no watermark; the diagram is drawn and the file is built in your browser.
Write the diagram as text. Send it as a picture.
Free, no account, no watermark. Drawn in your browser.
